The Olde Mint
This remarkable stone structure, dating back to the 15th century, is steeped in history and legend. It is said that King Charles the First used this building as a mint in 1642, producing coins to pay his soldiers following the Battle of Edge Hill. The building has since been transformed by John Liddington Leisure into a predominantly open-plan space, while still preserving its historical charm. The interior showcases an array of timberwork, as well as an exhibition of Civil War weaponry, including guns, pikes, and swords. Additionally, the building features a spacious outdoor seating area, partially sheltered, which is directly accessible from the public car park on Daventry Street. This venue seamlessly blends history and modernity, offering a unique experience for all visitors.
