The Devonshire Inn
This charming, untouched local pub, featuring a thatched roof, low ceilings, and an open fire, is nestled in a Dartmoor village and was originally part of a row of Elizabethan cottages. Stepping into it today offers a unique, atmospheric journey into the past. A leat, or man-made watercourse, runs past the pub's rear wall, serving a dual purpose. It not only cools the three real ales on stillage but also powers the waterwheel of the adjacent Finch Foundry Museum, a National Trust property. This quaint establishment seamlessly blends history, tradition, and nature, providing an authentic and memorable experience for its visitors.
