Other People
Other People, a new play by Six of Swords Productions, follows a group of three final year uni students whose birthday trip is upended by the unexpected arrival of a former friend who recently wrote a negative review of their production of No Exit. As inhibitions lower and tensions rise, the boundaries between player and played begin to blur.
In Other People, a birthday weekend among friends (literally) becomes a stage in which buried tensions surface and their pitfalls are played out: artistic insecurity, romantic jealousy, queerness, loyalty, the fear of being left behind. Theatre itself becomes both the subject and the language through which these characters try (and fail) to understand one another. What begins as a social gathering slowly transforms into something theatrical, dangerous, and intimate, forcing the audience to question where authenticity ends, and performance begins.
