Highwayman Hotel
The site has been home to an inn since the early 18th century, initially known as the Anchor Beer House. It is conveniently located next to the Oxford Canal, which was constructed in the 1790s, and boasts a spacious garden alongside the canal. The pub was once named the Wise Alderman, in honor of Frank Wise, a local parish councillor. However, in 2009, it underwent a name change. Prior to that, it was called the Railway Hotel, a nod to the time when Kidlington had a railway station, which was unfortunately dismantled in the early 1960s. Today, the establishment not only serves as a pub but also offers accommodation and features a restaurant. During the summer months, patrons can usually expect a third beer option, often Hooky, to be available.
