Pickled Parson
The Crosshill Hotel, now operating under a new name, reopened its doors in late November 2017 following a significant renovation. The establishment now offers a variety of food and drink options, including cask ales, coffee cakes, and late meals. Patrons can enjoy these offerings at tables outside the establishment, which provide a picturesque view of the village green. The hotel's new name pays tribute to a beloved village Rector. In an interesting twist of local lore, the Rector's wife had him preserved in a pickling solution following his untimely death, which occurred just before rent day. This unusual step was taken in order to collect the rent owed to them.
