George Hotel
Located in the heart of the city, this three-storey building, formerly an 18th-century hotel, still preserves several Victorian and early 20th-century features. Upon entering, you are greeted by a vibrant tiled floor in the corridor and an unused serving hatch with glazed doors. The public bar, which was originally two separate rooms and has since been expanded, showcases an antique panelled counter and a mostly original bar-back. Adding to the vintage charm is an old, tiled, cast-iron fireplace. A similar fireplace can also be found in the cozy 'snug' area, located at the front left of the building. This former hotel offers a unique blend of history and charm, making it a must-visit for those who appreciate architecture from the Victorian and early 20th-century periods.
