The Castle

This pub holds a unique piece of history, commemorated by a pawnbroker's sign and a large painting. The story goes that a previous licensee of the pub once lent money to George IV for a wager. In return, he was granted the right to operate as a pawnbroker, a privilege that has remained unused. The pub itself underwent a significant refurbishment in 2021, which has resulted in a fresh, modern look while still maintaining its historical charm. The interior now boasts a single bar, complemented by wooden floorboards and exposed brickwork that add a rustic touch. The seating arrangement is diverse, with a variety of styles to choose from. Additional seating can be found up the steps at the back of the pub, providing ample space for patrons to relax and enjoy their visit.
