About this event
Cost £16 (£12 concs)
1927's inimitable blend of finely crafted animation with pitch perfect, twisted storytelling and live music, first seen in their critically acclaimed Edinburgh hit Between the Devil and The Deep Blue Sea, brought the young quartet from nowhere to become one of the most talked about companies of 2007. This, only their second production, sees a continuation of their signature style, drawing influences from early cinema, including silent film and German expressionism.

Trust no one. Suspect even your own shadow. Welcome to the Bayou, a part of the city feared and loathed, wherein lies the infamous Bayou Mansions; a sprawling, stinking tenement block, in which curtain-twitchers and peeping-toms live side by side, and the wolf is always at the door. When Agnes Eaves and her daughter arrive late one night, does it signal hope in this place, or has the real horror only just begun?

1927 are Miss Suzanne Andrade, Master Paul Bill Barrett, Miss Lillian Henley and Miss Esme Appleton. The company have toured worldwide, and this current production will tour to Australia to play at Sydney Opera House and The Malthouse, Melbourne prior to their BAC run.

1927 are winners of the Fringe First, Herald Angel, Total Theatre, Glasgow Arches Brick, Carol Tamber and Peter Brook Empty Space Awards. They have also been nominated for two New York Drama Desk Awards.

Created by 1927, co-commissioned by BAC, Malthouse Theatre & The ShowRoom, The University of Chichester.
Development supported by Corn Exchange Newbury, The Arches Glasgow, Manipulate Visual Theatre Festival, funded by Arts Council England, supported by the British Council.
