Son Yambu are a UK based band play authentic Cuban son - the essential Afro-Cuban sound that originated in the streets of eastern Cuba and gave rise to modern salsa. The band members, who all have a lifetime's experience playing son, mainly come from Santiago De Cuba (the birthplace of son) and are all passionate about maintaining the traditions of the genre.Playing their irresistible tropical rhythms, Son Yambu bring their audiences a truly sensational, authentic Latin-music experience, and their music is guaranteed to turn any event into a fiesta.
Naná Clara Aldrin-Quaye is a dynamic Afro-Spanish singer known for her powerful voice and vibrant stage presence. Born and raised in Spain to Ghanaian parents, she began her musical journey in 2007 in Havana, Cuba, mentored by Gregorio “El Goyo” Rodríguez of the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional. Her time in Cuba deepened her connection to Afro-Cuban music and honed her artistry.
Naná started out as a backing vocalist, performing with groups such as the London Lucumí Choir, Wara, Rumba Orisha, Gerardo y su Rumba-Aché, Mamanollora, Orquesta Bombo, Orquesta Estelar, Atrevida, and Pedrito Calvo (Ex–Los Van Van). She also recorded backing vocals on Concha Buika's Grammy-nominated album Vivir Sin Miedo.
Now leading her own band, Naná y la Esencia, she delivers powerful, danceable performances that blend timba, Latin soul, and Cuban rhythms. Whether interpreting classics or fresh arrangements, Naná brings fire, heart, and authenticity to every show.
