"The Wonders of a Snail"
by Margaret Morley for remotegoat on 31/07/11

A most enjoyable, delightful and entertaining show. Set in a wood, a snail with a very large red shell, was found to have magic powers! Ellie Fitzhenry and Jennifer Skapeti wrote and appear in the play and Jamie Symons also appears in the play. The three act as children playing hide and seek in the woods and they discover, The Magic Snail.

The show includes many animal characters, such as a bunny rabbit, a pig, a flamingo, a lion and a giraffe. An ideal show for 3-7 year olds, with adults in the audience also enjoying the show. The show includes colourful costumes with enthusiastic performances by the actresses and actor.

A moral to the story is also included, regarding listening to people, in this instance listening to people who are not so tall or big and in this way the show is educational. With the show time just under an hour, this is a manageable time for the concentration span of children.

The larger than life snail, is a friendly character and its appearance on stage is long awaited and welcomed. The background is a lovely painted woodland, there are many sing-a-longs in the show, and there is the option of a carpet to sit on for the children (and adults) which looks a bit like a magic carpet. With characters including someone who keeps falling over, another one fun-loving, freckled face and pigtailed, you are sure to enjoy the show. Just the right level of audience participation is courted and it is well worth the journey.
