"Shoot the Prez - Win a Prize!"

A crowd gathers at a derelict carnival shooting gallery, the sinister Proprietor beckons, enticing the onlookers to "C'mere and kill a President!" From this nightmarish beginning, Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's musical "Assassins" goes on to examine the lives of the 9 men and women who attempted - successfully or otherwise - to assassinate the President of the United States.

From Samuel Byck who hijacked a plane to crash into the White House and kill Richard Nixon, to Jodie Foster-obsessed John Hinckley, and the "pioneer" of them all, John Wilkes Booth - each assassin confronts his or her act of meaningless violence.

Meanwhile, however, in the Texas School Book Depository, November 22, 1963, Lee Harvey Oswald, lonely and distraught, is preparing to take his own life...
