This play was premiered at the National Theatre in 2001.

This Dutch theatre classic has been relocated to Whitby, Yorkshire in 1900.

The tough life of the fishing community, the deprivation and the hardships are shown through the eyes of a fisherman's widow and her surviving family. There are storms and the women wait for the boats to return.

Songs and dances help evoke life, with all its trials and tribulations, in this tight knit community.
