About this event

“This is the diary of me, Charles Pooter. Social ladder climber. Technical middle-class, according to recently completed internet survey.”

FRED’s writer in residence, Jonathan ap Emrys, has produced an exciting modern adaptation of the classic Victorian comic novel for our winter 2014 tour.

A classic of English literature, 'The Diary of a Nobody' presents an accurate and amusing record of the manners, customs and experiences of lower-middle-class suburban Londoners of the late nineteenth century.

Jonathan’s fast-paced adaptation brings Mr Charles Pooter, his family and friends into the twenty-first century where we discover the familiar stories revisited in a contemporary setting. Although it seems everything is different, nothing really changes.

Reviews for 'The Lasting Sense of Sudden', Jonathan’s previous play for FRED, include: “exquisite,” “an emotively exhausting play, but one which gives back everything it takes,” “a brave and (in every sense) revealing performance.”

Join us for an evening of fun, laughter and just a little self-mocking.

Suitable for all ages.
