The Cambridge Shakespeare Festival is the UK's best-loved open-air Shakespeare festival, held in the timeless and magical atmosphere of the Cambridge University private gardens, was recently described in the TLS as "one of the finest events of its kind in the UK".

Earlier this year, some 500 years after his death, the remains of Richard, Duke of Gloucester (later Richard III) were discovered buried under a car park in Leicester. We had to mark this amazing event with this production, set in the stunning gardens of St John’s College. Malicious, power-hungry, and bitter about his physical deformity, Richard begins to aspire secretly to the throne—and decides to kill anyone he has to in order to become king. This is Shakespeare’s masterpiece of manipulation, deceit and political intrigue.
