'SAPPHO …in 9 fragments' transfers to The Rose, Bankside

Within a secluded cavern, Ancient Greece's first love poet laments her erasure from history, while a chorus girl named Atthis is seduced into a modern-day Sapphic romance.
This politically-charged and visually-compelling solo performance, featuring the "magnetic" (RemoteGoat) Victoria Grove, achieved critical and popular acclaim with a sold-out extended run at the White Rabbit Theatre.
"The Rose - part fringe theatre, part excavation site - is the perfect venue for a play about Sappho, whose extensive collection of poetry has been all but lost, save for a few fragments that suggest what might have existed; just like the foundations that permit us to imagine the theatre once used by Marlowe and Shakespeare" - Jessica Ruano, Director of SAPPHO …in 9 fragments

All performances at 7.30 pm (except Sundays at 3.00 pm only)
No Monday performances

The Rose is an indoor archaeological site, it is advisable to dress with an extra layer as there is no heating. There are also no toilets so please use Shakespeare's Globe just a few hundred meters away.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the production starts to collect or pay for your tickets.

"The best theatrical experience I've had since New York 2011 and the Book of Mormon"  MAUREEN LIPMAN
