Esther won't talk.

Sandy won't shut up.

Ron mostly turns off his hearing aid.

Ingrid's dying for a drink.

Mary's dying for a bonk.

Gladys can't get out of this place soon enough, but once you get out of here - where do you go?

Moon River tells the story of 87-year old Glad as she struggles to make a home in the alien surroundings of a residential slash day centre for pensioners in leafy Chingford. How can she fight for territory from the insufferable Home Service Sandy? How can she find her feet when the ground keeps collapsing beneath her? What is she doing here anyway? She's clearly the only sane one.

The play mirrors the state of Glad's mind, tumbling from sharp sitcom to frightening dreamscape and back, via a tea dance at the end of time.

This first full-length play from Seiriol Davies is a fearless examination of old age in contemporary Britain. It was grown from a core of verbatim text gathered from the elders of Hackney and Chingford, and was developed at the Soho Theatre with assistance from the Trafalgar Studios.

Directed by Caroline Horton (winner of the 2010 The Stage award - Best Solo Performer for You're Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy) and with a cast that includes Julia Voce (London Bubble Theatre Company, Underbling and Vow) and Victoria Gould (Complicite, Eastenders), Moon River is penetrating, moving, visually rich and brilliantly funny.

Produced by Sharney Nougher for Tender Trap Theatre Company.
