A new black comedy by Sylvie Gral at the award-winning Shaw Theatre.

After last year's acclaimed UK premiere of 'The Child, the Seed and the Soldier' at the Camden Fringe Festival, renowned French playwright and visionary director Sylvie Gral returns to the 2011 Festival with the UK premiere of a brand-new black comedy.

George, Bob and Oliver are trapped in a tunnel. Whilst looking for immediate solutions to flee from their nightmarish situation, they receive unexpected visits from figures such as a mysterious crossing guard, a clarinettist engrossed in her favourite symphony, as well as a highly flirtatious bombshell, who all force them to realise that their escape might not be as easy as they initially thought. But if they could catch the train that runs through the tunnel only once every year, their lives might change for the better...

Bursting with Sylvie Gral's trademark mixture of pun-filled and thought-provoking dialogues, 'A Watch in the Tunnel' offers an astonishing insight into the darker side of the human condition, where matters of hope, love, jealousy, life and death are all explored in a uniquely complex, tragicomical manner. A biting, contemporary satire on the human comedy and the existential absurdity, 'A Watch in the Tunnel' is to be staged in a bracingly modern style with original music and production design by the author herself.

An unabashedly caustic and utterly entertaining show - a play-in-the-tunnel without tunnel vision.
