After four flops in a row megalomaniac theatre impresario, Oscar Jaffee, and his hapless entourage are on the run. Desperately trying to resuscitate his flat-lining career, he books a carriage on the Twentieth Century, the world's most famous express train bound for New York. In the next carriage resides his former muse turned Hollywood starlet Lily Garland.

Oscar now has 16 hours to entice the equally egotistical Lily back on to the stage and avoid financial ruin. Throw a jealous lover and a religious fanatic into the mix and you have a Christmas treat like no other.

Inspired by the 1932 screwball comedy film of the same name, On the Twentieth Century was the hit of the 1978 Broadway season and features music by the great Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity) with book and lyrics by the remarkable team of Betty Comden and Adolph Green (On the Town).

Ryan McBryde has directed extensively in both the UK and Europe. Recent credits include the German premieres of both The Full Monty and Spring Awakening musicals and the world premiere of A Day At The Racists. His recent production of Hamlet! - The Musical won the WhatsOnStage Theatregoers' Choice Award. He was Resident Director on Billy Elliot - The Musical and Bat Boy in the West End and Associate Director on The Common Pursuit at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Choreographer Drew McOnie was one of the finalists in the BBC's first series of So You Think You Can Dance and a finalist in the 2010 Place Prize for choreography.
