Ship Inn
The quaint pub, nestled in a narrow corner extending from the High Street to the beach, boasts a rich history and a stunning view. Its central section, which served as an alehouse back in 1798, is a testament to its long-standing tradition. In 2010, the establishment underwent significant enhancements, including the addition of a restaurant offering breathtaking sea views and an upstairs deck designed for patrons who enjoy their drinks in the open air. The interior decor pays homage to the interests of a previous landlord, featuring nautical maps and pictures adorning the walls. Notable among these are the captivating paintings of Rorkes Drift and the Battle of Isandlwana. In September 2023, the pub changed hands after being run for 38 years by Stewart and Wendy. The new owners, L&B Restaurant Co., purchased the establishment, promising to carry forward its legacy.
